Reiki Before and After Care

How to prepare for a Reiki session

Reiki will ultimately go wherever it is most needed for us, which may differ from what you think you need at the time. Even so, you may wish to spend a little time thinking about any intention you may want to set for your treatment.

Some examples:

  • Pain relief
  • Raise your vibration, awaken or heighten intuition, enhance spiritual connection
  • Release stress and tension and increase overall calm
  • Achieve clearer thought or self-awareness (overall or regarding a specific situation)
  • Feel more grounded and centered
  • Help in releasing what no longer serves you and/or what is not yours to hold
  • To receive insight into an upcoming decision
  • To receive insight about how to resolve a family, personal, or work situation

So, feel free to set an intention but....also try to just be open to the process without being fully attached to any specific outcome. Allow these beautiful healing energies to flow for your greatest good.

Wether you are experiencing Reiki in person or virtually:

  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Have water nearby for after your session

What happens in a Reiki session

You remain fully clothed and comfortably laying down under a cozy blanket.

We will start each session with some gentle breathing techniques and a guided visualization to help you relax and begin to connect with the energy.

You may choose to set an intention for your Reiki treatment. Ultimately, Reiki will go wherever it is most needed for us, which may differ from what you think you need at the time.

During the session, your practitioner will primarily have their hands just above your body. On occasion, your practitioner may periodically place their hands gently on your body.

Everyone experiences a Reiki treatment uniquely.  Some may feel warmth or tingling sensations, have visions of colours, loved ones, loved ones who have crossed over, or even visions of life scenarios. At every least, it is likely to be one the most profoundly relaxing experiences you've had.

Reiki Aftercare

Hydrate. You may feel a bit light headed immediately after your session. This is normal as your energetic vibration rises from receiving Reiki but, not a sensation you may be used to. Drinking water will help you feel more grounded after a session.

Some people feel lighter, more joyful, or more at ease after a Reiki session.

Some may experience what is referred to as a brief healing cycle/detox before they feel better, where stagnant energies come to the surface of your consciousness before being released. This can sometimes manifest as a headache, soreness, or heightened emotions.

Give yourself time to rest after your Reiki session - journal, meditate, do breath work, listen to uplifting music, ....whatever you feel you need.

If you are experiencing a longer or stronger healing/detox cycle, an additional session can help to support you (perhaps along with guided imagery techniques) in feeling safe to release all that no longer serves you.
